Free to test the physics.
Pro to use the result.

Free is the simulator: build a mechanism, press Space, and see how it behaves. Pro is for what you do with the result: graphs, figures, exports, a lecture, an exam.

Cancel any time, in two clicks, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Within 14 days of a payment you can ask for a full refund. Prices include VAT.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What can I do on Free?

Build a mechanism with bodies, ropes, pulleys, springs and joints, run it, step through it and scrub the time bar, and open any official template. Free is for testing the physics. Graphs and tables, labels and figures, every export, the presenter, gears and drives, exam variants and Python are Pro.

How much is Pro, and does it include VAT?

€39 a year (€3.25 a month) or €4.99 a month. Prices include VAT. Paddle, our payment provider, shows the final price for your country before you pay and sends the invoice.

How do I cancel?

In the studio: Account → Manage subscription opens Paddle's billing page, where you cancel in two clicks. Pro then stays on until the end of the period you paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 14 days of a payment, write to [email protected] or ask Paddle and you get your money back, no questions asked. Refund policy.

What happens to my work if I stop paying?

Nothing is lost. Your scenes open, run and save as usual. Pro parts in them (gears, annotations, graphs, a script) are kept in the file but locked until you subscribe again, and your cloud library stays readable and downloadable.

Which payment methods work?

Cards and the wallets and local methods Paddle offers in your country, such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. We never see your card details.

Is Research mode part of Pro?

Pro can switch between Sandbox and Research whenever it likes; Free runs in Sandbox.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Ordinate 2D runs in a modern desktop browser. Your scenes are stored on your own device; export a scene to keep a copy or to share it.

How accurate is the simulation?

It uses a fixed time step, SI units and exact joints, and the classic problems are tested against their textbook formulas: the fifteen member forces of the Warren truss match the hand calculation to 0.002 N, and the Peaucellier linkage draws its line to within 1 mm. It is a teaching and figure tool, not engineering certification, so check safety-critical results independently.

Which formats can I export on Pro?

Figures as SVG, PDF, PNG or TikZ code for LaTeX; animations as video or GIF; graphs and data as CSV or pgfplots. Labels can contain LaTeX.

How is it different from PhET, Algodoo or TikZ?

PhET offers polished simulations of one topic each, Algodoo is a playful sandbox, and TikZ draws precise figures from code. Ordinate 2D lets you build any mechanism yourself, simulates it in SI units and draws it in textbook style, from the same model.

Do you offer licences for a course or department?

Yes. If you teach a course and would like Pro for your students, write to [email protected]. We invoice per seat.
